Max Verstappen has claimed his first ever Formula 1 pole position.

Max Verstappen has secured his first ever pole position in Formula 1 in the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix, after pipping Mercedes' Valtteri Bottas by just .018s. Thanks to his first ever pole, Verstappen has become the fourth youngest driver to earn a pole position - aged 21 years and 307 days. Bottas' team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, qualified in third, whilst down at Ferrari, Charles Leclerc edged Sebastian Vettel by .028s for fourth place. One very impressive qualifying performance today, other than that of Verstappen, came from British driver George Russell in the Williams, who in a car which is the worst of the current lot, only failed to make it into second part of qualifying by just over half a tenth of a second. Meanwhile, Antonio Giovinazzi is under investigation for impeding Lance Stroll during the first part of qualifying.
