Sheffield United have managed to retain goalkeeper Dean Henderson for another season, as his loan deal from Manchester United has been extended. Furthermore, Henderson has signed a new contract with Manchester United which will keep him till the club until 2022. A club statement read: "The formalities of the deal to bring Dean Henderson back to Bramall Lane have been completed - much to the delight of the goalkeeper and Chris Wilder.
The 22-year-old has signed a season-long loan deal with the Blades following discussions with his parent club, Manchester United.
As can be seen in the video above, Henderson is delighted to return after his exploits last season and boss Wilder is equally thrilled.
"Dean was always our number one target," said Wilder. "We've had to fight to get a good deal and that's part and parcel of our approach in the transfer market. All of us, from myself, to the coaching staff, to the player and the supporters want him playing for us in the Premier League and with a lot of hard work we've made that happen."
Prior to joining the Blades for the entirety of the 2018/19 season, Henderson had furthered his footballing development with successful loan spells at Shrewsbury Town and Grimsby Town.
Henderson was an ever-present between the sticks in United's promotion-winning campaign last season, making a number of crucial saves at key times.
The 22-year-old kept a total of 21 clean sheets last term, which saw him win the Sky Bet Championship Golden Glove award.
The fans' favourite firmly established himself as number one for England's U21s and started all three group games for Aidy Boothroyd's Young Lions in the European Championships earlier this summer.
He is the seventh summer signing, following Luke Freeman, Phil Jagielka, Callum Robinson, Ravel Morrison, Lys Mousset and Ben Osborn into Bramall Lane."
