Round-up:
In the early kick-off of the day, it was a case of two teams who remained unbeaten, as Grimsby Town and Bradford City took a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw after James Hanson cancelled out James Vaughan's goal which had given Bradford the lead.
Plymouth Argyle recorded their second win in two games to extend their 100% start to the season, as they beat Colchester United by a single goal which ensured they also maintained top spot in League 2. Also maintaining their 100% start to the season were Swindon Town, who came from behind to beat Carlisle United 3-2, who were reduced to ten men as Canice Carroll saw red. The other team who successfully maintained their 100% record were Exeter City as they recorded a 1-0 win away to Stevenage thanks to a very late 89th minute goal from Nicholas Law. Two teams who had won their opening match and faced off today, Walsall and Forest Green Rovers, could not be separated as Walsall scored an 86th minute equaliser after Forest Green had taken the lead after a penalty in the 6th minute of first-half stoppage time.
After a great start last week for the promoted teams, this week it was a case of back to reality as Salford City and Leyton Orient lost to Crawley Town and financially hamstrung Macclesfield Town 2-0 and 3-0 respectively. In arguably the match of the afternoon in the fourth tier, Mansfield Town impressively came back from two goals down to draw 2-2 against Morecambe thanks to goals from Nicky Maynard and Danny Rose, whilst they were also reduced to 10 men as Matt Preston got sent off. After losing last week to newly-promoted Leyton Orient, Cheltenham Town bounced back after they impressively came from behind to beat Scunthorpe United 4-1, for whom it's a second defeat in two games which has consigned them to the bottom of League 2 (it's still early days though!). Crewe Alexandra, who last week suffered a nasty 3-0 defeat to Plymouth, came from behind to beat Oldham Athletic 2-1. Northampton Town ensured they got points on the board as they came from behind to draw 1-1 against Port Vale, for whom it is two draws from two games, whilst Cambridge United and Newport County played out a goalless draw.
