Round-up: The team who went into the weekend at the top of League 2, Exeter City, made sure that they stayed there as they recorded a slender 1-0 win at home to Mansfield Town thanks to a goal from Ryan Bowman after just 5 minutes. In addition to suffering defeat, Mansfield were reduced to 10 men as Ryan Sweeney was shown a straight red card four minutes from time. Newport County maintained their unbeaten start to the season in impressive fashion, as they beat Forest Green Rovers 2-0 away from home thanks to goals from Padraig Amond and Ryan Haynes, though their caused was helped significantly by Joseph Wollacott being given a straight red card after 28 minutes for the home side. Crewe Alexandra bounced back from their defeat last week away to Newport by coming from behind to beat Bradford City 2-1 thanks to goals from Charlie Kirk and Tom Lowery after James Vaughan had given them the lead. Grimsby Town made it back-to-back wins in impressive fashion as they came from behind to win 3-1 away to Walsall, with James Hanson being the protagonist as he scored two of Grimsby's goals. Swindon Town returned to winning ways after two disappointing showings by beating Morecambe 3-1 thanks to a brace from Eoin Doyle which was sandwiched by a Jerry Yates strike. Plymouth Argyle suffered their second defeat of the season, as they were beaten 3-1 by Northampton Town, and a lot of the credit for this Northampton win must be attributed to Andrew Williams who scored a brace. Macclesfield Town needed an 85th minute penalty in order to rescue a point away to still winless Stevenage, as, after Ben Stephens gave Macclesfield the lead, the home side came from behind to lead themselves thanks to goals from Kurtis Guthrie and Luther Wildin, before Joe Ironside's penalty ensured a share of the spoils for both sides. Crawley Town followed up an impressive 1-0 victory in the Carabao Cup over Premier League side Norwich City with a 1-0 win over Cheltenham Town thanks to a 90th minute winner from Oliver Palmer. Colchester United made it back-to-back wins thanks to a Frank Nouble which gave them a 1-0 win over Oldham Athletic, for whom it is back down to earth following their win last week. It has been a miserable start to the season for Scunthorpe United, who remain at the bottom of the table after suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to Carlisle United thanks to a Ryan Loft goal. In a clash between last season's promoted teams, Salford City and Leyton Orient took a share of the spoils as they played out a 1-1 draw, whilst Port Vale bounced back from a 5-2 defeat at Grimsby last week after winning 1-0 at home to Cambridge United, for whom it was a second successive defeat.
