Round-up: The weekend action in League 2 began with a derby, as Exeter City hosted Plymouth Argyle in the Devon Derby, and it was the home side who claimed the bragging rights in a resounding 4-0 triumph. Nicky Law's 42nd minute penalty gave Exeter the lead, before second half goals from Tom Parkes and Randell Williams helped them build up a 3-goal lead. The scoring was then wrapped up seven minutes from time, as Law grabbed his second goal of the match. The following three matches during this weekend were postponed due to adverse weather, which were: Forest Green Rovers v Crewe Alexandra Grimsby Town v Cheltenham Town Macclesfield Town v Bradford City In the action that did take place, the standout result saw Swindon Town hammer Crawley Town 4-0, and thus they moved into the promotion play-off places. Eoin Doyle was undoubtedly key to this victory, as he bagged a hat-trick, before Jerry Yates wrapped up the scoring with an 87th minute goal. Stevenage moved off the bottom of the table (a reminder that this year only the bottom-placed team will get relegated from League 2), as they recorded a slender 1-0 victory at home to Morecambe thanks to a Scott Cuthbert goal eight minutes from time. Meanwhile, Walsall suffered their fifth successive defeat as they lost 2-1 at home to Mansfield Town thanks to goals from Andy Cook and Alex MacDonald. Newport County failed to take advantage of the fact that three of top four sides were not in action today, as Colchester United came from behind to beat them 3-1 thanks to goals from Ryan Jackson, Ben Stevenson and Courtney Senior after Tristan Abrahams had put Newport in front inside the opening 5 minutes. Northampton Town climbed up to just one place outside the promotion play-offs, as they recorded a 2-0 victory at home to Cambridge United thanks to a Harry Smith goal followed by an own goal from George Taft. New Leyton Orient manager Carl Fletcher earned his first point in charge of the club, as Josh Wright's seventh minute penalty was cancelled out by Carlisle United's Jack Iredale. The other team who came up from the National League last season, Salford City, also recorded a 1-1 draw as Cameron Burgess cancelled out Kevin Van Veen's earlier goal which had given Scunthopre United the lead. Finally, Port Vale and Oldham Athletic played out a goalless draw in a result which does neither side any real favours.
