Manchester City have added some goalkeeping cover with the signing of Scott Carson on loan.

Manchester City have completed the signing of goalkeeper Scott Carson on a season-long loan deal to add cover for current goalkeeepers Ederson and Claudio Bravo.

A club statement read: "Manchester City have signed goalkeeper Scott Carson from Derby County.

The 33-year-old has been brought in as an additional option alongside Ederson and Claudio Bravo, signing a year-long loan deal. “It’s an honour to have signed for City on loan,” Carson said. “It’s something I didn’t expect but an opportunity I simply could not turn down. To be part of this squad – the Champions of England – is a dream come true.

“I can’t wait to see Pep’s work on the training field up close. What he has achieved in his management career has been amazing, and it’s every player’s dream to play under him.

“Hopefully, my experience will prove useful as we try and make it three Premier League titles in a row.” Director of Football, Txiki Begiristain, added: “We’re delighted to be able to recruit Scott into the squad for the coming season. “We have strength in depth in the goalkeeping department, and the wealth of experience Scott will bring to the squad will be important as we once again look to compete on all fronts.”

Capped four times by England, Carson has a wealth of experience from a 16-year career and counts West Bromwich Albion, Liverpool and Turkish outfit Bursaspor amongst his former teams.

The Whitehaven-born shot-stopper has spent the last four seasons at Pride Park, making more than 150 appearances as the Rams qualified for the Championship playoffs three times.

Everyone at Manchester City wishes Scott the best of luck throughout his time here."
