Round-up: The third weekend of Bundesliga action kicked off with an interesting clash on Friday night, as RB Leipzig claimed an impressive victory, winning 3-1 away to Borussia Monchengladbach. It is fair to say that one player was key to this victory for RB Leipzig, as striker Timo Werner, who very recently signed a contract extension with the club, scored all three of their goals in a win which has extended their 100% start to the season under new manager Julian Nagelsmann. In Saturday's action, reigning champions Bayern Munich came from behind to record a massive 6-1 victory over Mainz 05 thanks to six different goalscorers. Jean-Paul Boetius gave Mainz the lead after just six minutes in the game, which certainly was not in the script. Bayern then equalised 9 minutes before half-time, before David Alaba scored right on the stroke of half-time to put them in front. The second half proved to be a goalfest for Bayern, as they scored four goals via loan signing Ivan Perisic, Kingsley Coman, striker Robert Lewandowski and teenage star Alphonso Davies. It was certainly a good day for the promoted teams, as 1.FC Koln came from behind to beat SC Freiburg 2-1. Freiburg took the lead five minutes before half-time thanks to an own goal from Koln defender Rafael Czichos and they maintained their advantage going into half-time. It did not take too long for Koln to respond, however, as seven minutes into the second half they equalised via forward Anthony Modeste, and just as it looked as though they would settle for a first point on their return to the Bundesliga, Koln went on to take all three after a goal from Ellyes Skhiri in the 90th minute. Although they did not win their game, SC Paderborn 07 did earn their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw away to Wolfsburg. Paderborn took the lead in the 12th minute of the game thanks to midfielder Cauly, before Croatian attacker Josip Brekalo equalised for Wolfsburg 11 minutes after half-time to maintain their unbeaten start to the season. Schalke 04 got their season up and running as they got a first win by beating Hertha Berlin by 3 goals to nil, thanks to 2 own goals - one from Niklas Stark and Karim Rekik, with full-back Jonjoe Kenny, on loan from Everton, sealing the win in the 85th minute. Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen's 100% start to the season ended as they were held to a goalless draw at home by Hoffenheim. Saturday's action concluded with Bundesliga debutants 1.FC Union Berlin hosting last season's runners-up Borussia Dortmund, and to further demonstrate what a good day it was for the promoted sides, the home side surprisingly came out on top in a well-earned 3-1 victory. Marius Bulter gave Union Berlin the lead in the 22nd minute, before striker Paco Alcacer cancelled it out just 3 minutes later, and the two teams remained level going into half-time. After just 5 minutes of the second half, Bulter grabbed his second goal of the game which put Union Berlin back in front, and their win was wrapped up in the 75th minute thanks to a goal from Sebastian Andersson.
