Result: Bolton Wanderers 0 West Bromwich Albion 2
West Bromwich Albion got their first league win of 2019 after beating a struggling Bolton Wanderers team in a match which was also notable for protests by Bolton's supporters at chairman Ken Anderson, with fans believed to be unhappy at the way he has run the club. The kick-off was even delayed as tennis balls were thrown onto the pitch.
Anderson was recently involved in an argument with Forest Green Rovers' owner Dale Vince over the transfer of Christian Doidge - which was initially a loan deal and would have been converted into a permanent deal in January, but did not go ahead as intended due to the fact that Bolton find themselves in a transfer embargo. Dale Vince accused Anderson of breaching the agreement.
Anyway, as for matters on the pitch, the goals for West Brom came either side of half-time, with Jay Rodriguez giving them the lead inside 19 minutes, and youngster Sam Field wrapped up the win in the 75th minute.
Speaking after the win, Rodriguez told Sky Sports:
"Every three points is important for us.
"There's a good competition with Dwight Gayle. We're a great combination."
